St.
Johns Austin Healey Club Member Meeting Minutes for March 4, 2024
The club’s monthly meeting was called to order at Casa Amigos
Mexican Bar and Grill at 7:35
p.m. by President Bill Young. Those attending included Erling and Sandy
Onsager, Paul and
Judy Sandefer, Bill and Char Maroney, Rick and Marilynn Stevenson,
Bob Pippin, Tony Martini
and Ron Keysor.
Club
treasurer Paul Sandefer reported the club’s bank balance as
$$$$$$$. He also detailed the
club expenses for the month that included some costs for the St.
Valentine’s
Day luncheon, a
club shop meet that he and Judy hosted, etc. After the addition of
$140 in member dues
forwarded to our club by our national parent, the Austin Healey Club
of America (AHCA), the
ending balance was just $24 less than the $$$$$$$ at the start of
the month.
Membership chair Bill Maroney provided those attending with the updated
member roster, a
document that he also emailed in two different forms to the membership.
SJAHC currently has
33 paid members, two of those belonging to our local club and the
balance to both our club
and AHCA. Four additional individuals had not responded with payment
to continue their
membership as of the meeting, Bill said. He has been in contact with
them. Additionally, he
noted that Hans Knoefel has resumed his membership.
Bill Young commended Erling Onsager for the many improvements and
content additions that
have been made to the club Web site, SJAHC.com. It would be helpful
for members to email
photos and any commentaries they might have from tech sessions, home
Healey repairs
undertaken, etc. The success and usefulness of the club site depends
on the editor/manager,
Erling, getting new material to share with members. If you haven’t
visited the site, the secretary
takes editorial license to encourage members to do that.
In old business, activities chair Tony Martini and Bill mentioned
the Christmas Party hosted by
Ben and Lisa Proctor, the shop meeting hosted by the Sandefers (Ben
Proctor for provided the
well-restored BJ8 that was the test-specimen for that meeting), and
the recent luncheon Tony
organized held at St. Marys Seafood, with Tony, Bob Pippin, Rick
Stevenson and Ron Keysor
driving their Healeys. The Sandefers also, it should be mentioned,
arranged for the St.
Valentine’s Day luncheon attended by many members.
After considerable discussion, a new tech session was scheduled at
Bill Young’s in
Switzerland, the one along the St. Johns River south of JAX, for
Thursday, April 4, with an
update to be emailed members several days prior. Additionally, Tony
says he likely will
organize a semi-spontaneous luncheon outing this month. Members will
receive email
notification of all such happenings.
Sometimes members attending the monthly meeting provide brief tidbits
on their Healey
happenings, and sometimes they stray bit. Bill Maroney said he should
have responded to
Char’s concern about the battery in their Pacifica, which subsequently
died early after just two
years and five months. Then there was the tale of the window regulator
in Bill’s Corvette after
an original malfunctioned. The replacement also failed, was returned
to Amazon, and a second
from the same source but priced at $90 less received and installed.
And working. He is now
trying to find the source of a mysterious water spray emanating from
his Healey.
The next member meeting will be hosted by Marilynn & Rick
Stevenson at 14409 Mandrin Road on April 1, April Fools
Day, we were reminded. Our
leader, Bill Young, regularly posts a full agenda with all of the
necessary information that goes
to the entire membership several days ahead of our meetings. Watch
for it toward the end of
the month.
The March meeting adjourned about 8:15 p.m.
