April 2026 Meeting

Thanks to Ben & Lisa Procter for hosting our April meeting.

The meeting was called to order at 7:05 P.M. The following members were in attendance: Mike Foster, Bill & Char Maroney, Paul & Judy Sandifer, Tony Martini, Mike Gibson, Dave Morton, Bill & Judy Young, Ben & Lisa Procter and Bob Pippin.

The March 2nd meeting minutes were approved.

Our Club Treasurer Paul Sandifer reported that we started March with a balance of $$$$$$ and had income of $90.00 with an expenditure of $40.00 to National. Leaving us a balance of $$$$$.

Paul announced that effective as soon as possible he would be resigning his position as Club Treasurer. Thanks to Paul for the outstanding job he has done as Club Treasurer for the past 9 years. Dave Morton has volunteered to assume the responsibilities of Treasurer for the remainder of 2026.

There was some discussion regarding the need for our club to become incorporated both for banking and legal reasons. Mike Foster & Ben Procter have agreed to research through SUNBIZ the cost and procedures to form an LLC for the St. Johns Austin Healey Club.

Membership chairman Bill Maroney reported that there has been no changes to our current membership roster. Total membership at 38 with 30 AHCA members and 8 local members.

Please note that our Webmaster Erling Onsager has began posting the meeting minutes and club calendar on our website.

There was some discussion regarding the cost of maintaining our web domain and website. Bill Young will check out other options. Possibly tagging on to the AHCA National website by having a link to our chapter.

Old Business:

* Ben Procter, Mike Foster & Dave Morton attended the March 28th Car Show at the Presbyterian Church in Ponte Vedra.

* We had a nice turnout of cars at the Wobbly Whale lunch on April 2nd. Ben Procter, Roy Brant, Bob Pippin & Mike Foster all drove their BJ-8,s and Mike Gibson drove his Bugeye Sprite. Also in attendance were Bill Young and Tony Martini. The Wobley Whale posted pictures of our cars on their Facebook page and acknowledged our clubs lunch event at their restaurant.

* Dave & Angela Morton along with Michelle & Cam Anderson cruised over to Cedar Key during the Sundowner event in March. Watching the sun come up in St. Augustine and cruising across the state to watch the same sun go down at Cedar Key. All went well until it was time to come home on Sunday morning. Due to a clutch failure the Anderson Healey had to be towed home.

New Business:

* Zoom Meeting March 28th- Bill Young attended this meeting and reported that there are a lot of differing opinions when it comes to working on Austin Healeys. Future meetings will be held on the 4th Tuesday of every month at 7:00 P.M.

* S.E. Classic 9/17-9/20- John & Nancy Leenhouts are planning on driving to Dahlonega, Georgia to attend this event. Are their any other club members planning on going?

Activity Directors Tony Martini & Bob Pippin have scheduled the following events:

* April 16th Spring Tune up- Bring your Healeys to Bob Pippins garage to check fluids, air pressures and perform minor maintenance. Or come by to just socialize and talk Healeys. We'll start at 9:00 and either bring lunch in or go down to the Mandarin Ale House and have lunch.

* April 23rd cruise and lunch at the Caddy Shack ( World Golf Village) Perhaps meet somewhere and cruise over to the Caddy Shack with plans to be there at 11:45 and have lunch. More to follow. Please advise Tony or Bob if you are planning on attending either of these events.

* Plans are currently in the works for a "British Car Lunch Cruise In" at the Wobley Whale on May 9th. We are currently coordinating with the Triumph, MG & Jaguar clubs to plan this gathering of British sports cars. Much more to follow soon.

Car Reports:

* Tony Martini reports that his white BJ-8 is out on the road again. Tony has some concern about a whining noise coming from the rear differential. It was suggested that Tony turn off his hearing aids and the sound would probably go away.

* Bill Maroney reported that his Healey runs much better when it's not out of gas. His gas gauge was registering 1/4 full. Maybe at the April 16th shop session we should re-visit making gas dip sticks for all our cars. Just a thought.

* The May 4th Member Meeting will be held at Finn McCools 145 Hilden Rd
Ponte Vedra beginning at 6:30 P.M.  *

The meeting was adjourned at 7:52 PM
